    Building Your Inclusion Toolbox: Community of Practice (COP) Making Placement Decisions

    Each COP webinar will feature a different chapter of the Building Your Inclusion Toolbox book, consecutively. The COP will provide opportunities to engage with peers from across the state, and to hear from guest speakers who have effectively put recommended practices into place in programs programs just like yours. *Although not all sessions are required, the COP was designed as a complete series.

    {Date/time} Saturday April 7, 2018 Registration 8:30-9:00am Conference 9:00am-3:00pm {Location} Spalding Pastoral Center, Peoria, Il {Title} 12th Annual Family Conference: Resources and Inspiration for Adult Family Members and Caregivers of Children with Disabilities {Description} As a member of the Illinois Family Leaders Collaboration Early CHOICES so-sponsors this family conference, along with STARnet Region I & III, Family Matters Parent Training Information Center, Heart of Illinois Down Syndrome Association, Project Reach: Illinois Deaf Blind Services, Arc of Illinois Family to Family Health Information Center / Family Voices and parents of individuals with disabilities. This year’s conference features sisters Gina Gallagher and Patricia Terrasi. They are co-authors and past recipients of the National Alliance on Mental Illness awards. Speaking about our perfection-preoccupied planet, they dare to openly speak about the frustrations, stigmas, joys, and challenges they face as parents of children with disabilities. The Conference is for adult family members & caregivers of children (birth-22) who have developmental delays or disabilities. Service providers & educators are also welcome. There is a $15 per person (nonrefundable) registration fee for family members and a $25 (non-refundable) registration fee for professionals. Breakfast and lunch are included. Checks should be payable to “Family Matters,” but mailed with the registration form to Starnet Regions I & III by March 24, 2018.     Making Inclusion Work: Adaptations and Modifications (Webinar)

    Making Inclusion Work: Adaptations and Modifications is the second in a 3-part introductory series focusing on providing the basics of high quality inclusive programming. Join us in this series as we use the Illinois model for “What Makes Inclusion Work in Early Childhood” to guide you through the research-based practices shown to improve successful implementation of inclusive programming. Part two will focus on high quality program practices that support all children. Participants will be able to differentiate between adaptations, accommodations and modifications and be provided tools to assist in tailoring modifications for children. It is not required to register for all webinars in this series, but is highly recommended.
