Children’s Book Review: Examining the Role of Characters with Disabilities
December 2, 2021 @ 3:30 pm - 4:45 pm
You will not want to miss this intermediate webinar which will give participants the opportunity to evaluate children’s books featuring characters with disabilities. It can be hard to find high quality books that feature characters with disabilities and do not include bias and stereotypes. Join us as we use an anti-bias and developmentally appropriate practice lens to explore children’s books featuring characters with disabilities and the messages that are being sent. Participants will leave the webinar with recommendations for book titles to include in their library. This webinar is limited to 30 people. Accepted registrants will be sent an email about one month before the training asking them to confirm the address to which the book should be sent. Five different children’s book titles will be used in this training. During the webinar, participants with the same book will be put into groups to evaluate it using the information shared by the presenters in the beginning of the webinar.
