Inclusion is a term that is used in our work and considered to be the ideal for educating young children with disabilities. However, the concept of inclusion and what inclusion looks like in the birth – 3 years is often misunderstood. If you are an early intervention/early childhood professional supporting young children with disabilities and their families, or if you are a family member wanting to more deeply understand what inclusive practices look like, it is important to know the facts about what makes inclusion work. Inclusion includes Access, Participation, and Supports and Consideration of All when following the law to ensure placement in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). Topic guides will help you reflect on your views, opinions, and current practices around inclusion.
