Integrating Speech and Language Therapy into Early Childhood Classrooms: Strategies for Successful Implementation
July 16, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
This workshop will focus on integrating speech-language therapy and support into Early Childhood programs including blended classrooms, early childhood special education self-contained classrooms, full day Autism programs, and bilingual classrooms. The workshop is targeted towards Speech/Language Pathologists, classroom teachers, and other related service personnel (e.g., OT, PT, social workers) who are interested in learning more about ways to implement therapy into the classroom using an integrated, push-in approach. Knowledge of the Creative Curriculum is helpful but not required to attend. Topics will include data management, meeting IEP goals, RtI intervention strategies and time management. Ideas for collaboration with the classroom team, therapy ideas for larger group and small group instruction, and opportunities and ideas to insure that therapeutic interventions are carried out by the classroom teams will also be shared. Participants will be given opportunities to collaborate with other attendees regarding how to best implement an integrated speech and language therapy approach into their own classrooms and programs.
