Teaching Behavior Expectations and Social Skills During COVID: The Pyramid Way
August 2, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
As we move through COVID-19, there are more required behavior expectations. In addition to things like walking feet and gentle hands, settings may have additional behavior expectations such as wearing a mask, social distancing, increased hand washing practices, and new expectations for families. Teaching these expectations can be fluid as requirements change. To maintain the balance for deposits and withdraws, it is necessary to embed teaching expectations into daily schedules and routines. This session will provide strategies for directly teaching behavior expectations as well as intentionally embedding opportunities in daily schedules and routines. Teaching social and emotional skills can also be a challenge with new behavior expectations. This session will explore resources and strategies for teaching social and emotional skills during COVID.
