The Inequitable Practice of Segregation of Children with Disabilities
November 30, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Presenter: Rosemarie Allen, PhD
Despite science, policy and laws that promote and mandate inclusion of children with disabilities in general early learning settings, little progress has been made in ensuring inclusive learning opportunities for children with disabilities. This is particularly true for preschool children. In many early childhood spaces children with disabilities have been left out and placed in segregated settings. This workshop will examine the data, research, and policy landscapes of the inclusion of children with disabilities in early learning settings.
Recommended prerequisite: Dr. Shantel Meek laid the groundwork for all of these sessions during the Sharing A Vision conference (October 8, 2021). Her session will be available to view for credit as a stand alone asynchronous session prior to the Equity Symposium sessions, view the Symposium flyer here. You can register for that session here.
